# Travelling Safety Tips

Do not Charter a Vehicle from an Unknown Driver
If you must charter a vehicle for the purpose of travelling, go straight to a well-known Transportation Centre. They are too numerous to mention in any city of the World. And if peradventure anything happens in the course of the journey, some persons might be answerable to the incident and you can be sure that your properties are safe. It is not advisable to pick a cab on the road for a charter.

Do not Leave your Wallet and Phone on the Vehicle's Seat.
If you leave your wallet on the seat of the vehicle, we can only be sure of two things; they may be stolen or you forget them when you alight from the vehicle. Learn to hold your phone and wallet tight while onboard. If you prefer pocketing them, ensure you put them in your front pocket and don't forget to keep your hand close.

Do Not Go Down to Tow the Vehicle for the Driver.
Sounds weird and inhumane? I mean it that way, perhaps. If peradventure the vehicle you board seems to break down, let the driver and his assistant (conductor) go down and do the needful. Besides, boys are around to help with a token. Go down only if it is highly necessary for you to do so.

I've heard stories from reliable sources about situations where the driver made away with passengers properties after pretending that the vehicle was faulty and the unsuspecting passengers decided to help on his request by going down to tow the vehicle.

This deplorable incident happened few days ago around my community. And I must say that's one of the reasons I choose to write on this topic. It was really a pitiable sight to behold those unsuspecting passengers wailed and lamented over their stolen properties.

Do not Discuss Money related Issues that are too Revealing on the Phone while in the Vehicle.
Yes, not everyone in vehicle you board are good guys. Some of them are there to eavesdrop on people's calls to extract useful information that could help them launch their evil attacks. The Holy Book puts it that there is time for everything under the sun. So save such discussions for its rightful time.

Do not Travel with Huge Amount of Cash on you
Breaking your bank account and holding the cash on your journey is a very dangerous decision. If peradventure there's an attack on the course of the journey, we can only be sure of one thing---you will lose everything. And that can be very painful. Again, it could seriously affect your health. Nowadays, there are local banks near villages where you can withdraw your money. Talking about holding money when you travel, aside from your fare, sometimes, all you need is your ATM card.

Do not Buy things of Little Worth and give a Huge Value of Money and Ask for a Change
If you must refresh yourself on the course of the journey, keep the money for such purposes handy and ensure that the amount reserved for that is of small value so that nobody will run away with your money in the name of looking for change. In other words, do not buy #10.00 sweet and give the seller one thousand note. You may not get back your #990.00 balance.

Secure and Earmark your Properties(Luggage)
Before leaving your house to the car park, always remember that you are going to have your luggage packed up with other passengers luggage. It is likely that someone else is going to have your kind of luggage. Yes, it could be the same even in colour, size and weight.

Therefore, to avoid mistaking someone else's luggage for yours, take the pain (if that's what you call it) to secure and earmark your luggage before taking it to the car Park. Talking about securing it, you can use a portable but strong padlock if your luggage doesn't have a follow-come security lock.

Now, to earmark your luggage, you can use a bright colour marker like yellow, or white to create some marks, or better still, write your name on the luggage for easy identification. However, where ink marker is not readily available, any clean piece of rope that can be easily spotted out can do.

Do not Keep Quiet if the Driver over Speeds
Many road drivers are known for flaunting Traffic Laws. One of such Laws which they easily flaunt is that which has to do with over speeding. You don't need anybody to tell you the possible consequence of over speeding. Therefore, if the driver of the vehicle you board seems to take delight in flaunting any of those safety road orders, do not keep quiet and stay in the vehicle. Tell him boldly to stop putting your life at risk and learn to obey traffic Laws. If he insists, shout out loud and instigate other passengers to support you.

These are some useful tips that can help make your journey safe and enjoyable if you apply them religiously.

In my next article I shall provide some tips that will help you enjoy your entire period of travel. In that article, I shall talk about the spending and visits stuffs. So watch out!
