Why MR NIGER D is now known as MR NIGER CAD

Some days ago, I wrote the following lines of words on my Facebook timeline: "MR NIGER D is now known as MR NIGER CAD..." See post here ✈️Facebook update.

Then I tried to spice up the post with a bit of fun. The fun part was that who ever doesn't understand the post should not hesitate to ask me for explanations. And just as I'd expected one of my friends summoned up the courage to ask for explanations. Therefore, I am writing this as an explanation to that post and also as a reply to that friend of mine who demanded to know more about the post. Now over to the explanation proper.

When I was in school, secondary school to be precise, I was taught biology.In the subject, I was taught that living things have characteristics.
The followings were the named characteristics of living things; Movement, Respiration, Nutrition, Irritability, Growth, Excretion, Reproduction and Death.
Then our biology teacher told us that in order for us to remember these characteristics of living organisms with ease that we need to memorize them. So he gave us a clue. The clue was that we should adopt the use of mnemonics "MR NIGER D."

That was a really interesting and fun way to grasp the characteristics of living organisms and have them right on our fingertips. Consequently, beginning from that day, our brains clutched onto that mnemonics as an aid for easy recollection of the characteristics of living organisms.
Even after I had passed out of secondary school the mnemonics remained fresh in my memory.However, an update to this long held information in my brain came when I listened to a radio programme on one of the prominent radio stations in our region.

The programme is a weekly radio programme that teaches listeners biology. It comes up around 4:45pm, if i'm not mistaken, every Tuesday. So on that fateful day, the teacher on air was taking a lesson on the characteristics of living organisms.

However, I was surfing the net when my ears decided to journey down my uncle's room to eavesdrop on the sound of the radio that was on, playing. Before I could say Jack Robinson, what I heard caught my attention. So I stopped what I was doing and paid apt attention to the programme. There and then, I heard the teacher listed and explained in details the characteristics of living organisms. Please I'm sorry to mention that I'm not going to put up all the details here as I heard from him. So, he listed and explained the characteristics of living organisms in the following order;

Movement, Respiration, Nutrition, Irritability, Growth, Excretion, Reproduction, Competition, Adaptability and Death. Furthermore, after listing and explaining them he made what I call a clarion call to all biology students who were taught to use the mnemonics "MR NIGER D" as an aid for recollection of the characteristics of living organisms to pay apt attention to the update he was going to make on that long held information. As it is apparent in the list he has given, there are two more characteristics of organisms added to the list.

These are: Competition and Adaptability. Then he declared that "MR NIGER D" is now known as "MR NIGER CAD." I was excited to take in this new knowledge which also serves as an update to a long held information I had in my brain.

Finally, I realized that I had learned and benefited a great deal for listening to that radio programme. Therefore, I promised not to keep this information to myself alone. That is why I am sharing it with my friends.

So, that is exactly what inspired the caption I gave to that post on my Facebook timeline. I hope you enjoyed reading my story-like article. Please do not hesitate to comment and share to your friends. They might also learn one or two things from it. Thank you.
